ANDREW D. HAHS was born in New London, Connecticut, April 15, 1956. He has spent his 20+ years of practice developing skills that help owners of businesses and real property succeed. He works with his clients on a wide range of issues faced by owners including entity formation, employment, acquisition and sales. His ability to develop personal relationships with his clients and anticipate their needs contributes to his professional success and gives his clients confidence that their interests will be protected.
Since 1992 Andy has become one of the leading authorities on Oregon's landlord-tenant law. He represents a large share of the major residential property management companies in the tri-county area as well as numerous commercial landlords and tenants. He helped establish the Metro Multifamily Housing Association (whose membership owns or manages in excess of 120,000 multifamily units) in 1993 and is the 2005 President. He is a frequent speaker at seminars on landlord-tenant law and fair housing.
In addition to his expertise in the field of landlord-tenant issues, Andy has considerable experience representing buyers, sellers and developers of real property. He frequently assists in the structuring of purchases and sales, tax deferred exchanges, complex commercial leases and ownership entities such as limited liability companies. He also represents a number of major developers in such diverse areas as hotels, subdivisions, condominiums and assisted living facilities.
Outside the office Andy is a dedicated family man and has been married to Gail for over 20 years. Their two sons keep them busy with soccer, basketball and the challenge of keeping up on the ski slopes. His other avocation is training and teaching Kung Fu. Over 20 years in the martial arts has taught him valuable lessons that he applies to the business world. He has taught self-defense seminars to residential managers as a means of giving back to the management community.
